What did you do this past week?

I primarily worked on the recent phase of our project that was due. My own responsibilities consisted of managing the team, ensuring everyone was on track to finish their work and that all the work was assigned and being taken care of. I also spent a lot of time in coding the front end of the website almost entirely by myself. I set up api calls to our new backend and got the details and list pages to dynamically render instances based on the response, as well as helped set up the interactive google map component and fixed small bugs that we found along the way.

What’s in your way?

Nothing at all, we have our tasks clearly defined and are working on them right now.

What will you do next week?

Our first tasks are to complete and fix issues from the recent phase that we had problems with. Specifically, we need to get https working with the backend so that the https version of our deployed site can make secure calls to the backend and work, transition our database from sqlite to postgres, and make the site properly responsive so that’s its usable on mobile.

What was your experience of Test #1b? (this question will vary, week to week)

It was a little rough at first because of the hassles of the test administrative technology we had to use and the time limit which felt a little too short given the online nature of the exam, but having my team that i know and work with well helped tremendously and we ultimately finished all of it.

What made you happy this week?

I’ve been taking advantage of this quarantine to work on my personal projects that I’ve been wanting to work on for so long — a second studio album for my solo music project as well as a creative personal website built entirely in react. I’m working everyday to make the most out of this and it feels so good to know that I’m working at my peak productivity.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

I recently watched this amazing video about docker that a YouTuber that I follow posted and it helped me much better understand what docker is and especially why it’s important — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGz9DS-aIeY
